Potatoes get a bad rep. However, they are a great source of carbohydrates to fuel our brain, fiber, and other necessary vitamins and minerals for the body. Preparing them in ways that maintain their native nutritional content can help them be a positive aspect of a healthy diet!
Rinse your potato thoroughly. Cut your potato in half the long way. Then cut each half across the short way to get 4 large pieces. Now you can cut each piece in french fry cuts. Cutting the long way on each fourth of the potato, cut into pieces that are no thicker than 1/4 of an inch.
NOTE: It is important to keep the skin as that is where most of the nutrients are!
Step 3:
Toss the fries into a bowl and add in your olive oil, salt, and pepper. Mix all of the ingredients around with your hands to thoroughly spread the flavor.
Step 4:
Add your french fries flat and evenly spread out to your cooking tray. Add the tray to the oven place on the middle rack of the oven.
Step 5:
After 12 minutes, you should flip your fries to evenly crisp them up. Let cook for at least another 7 minutes. Then begin checking on them until they are cooking to your preferred crispness.
Notes:
Tinfoil will help your clean-up. Place it on the cooking tray before putting down the fries.
If you want to really crisp the fries, place them on the top rack for a minute or 2 on high broil.
