Ingredients

1/4 cup oats, dried

1 small banana

1/2 cup skim milk

nut butters

1 tablespoon peanut butter (unsweetened)

1/2 tablespoon cinnamon

1 1/2 tablespoons granola (a handful)

Other Ingredients:

  • Added sweetener (ideally honey or maple syrup)- to taste

Instructions

Step 1:

Add the 1/2 cup of milk/milk alternative/water to a saucepan and bring to a boil.

Step 2:

Once boiling, bring the temperature down to a low setting, and add in the oats, sweetener, and cinnamon

Step 3:

Once added, stir the contents rapidly for 30 seconds to a minute. Then stir intermittently until the oats are softened and ready to be consumed. 

Step 4:

Once complete, remove from the stove top and add the peanut butter. Stir until the peanut butter is evenly distributed.

Step 5:

Pour the contents from the saucepan into a bowl and top with the other ingredients you want to add (granola, banana, etc.)

  • Optional: mix the ingredients in the bowl to combine flavors. Alternatively leave separate to keep ingredients apart while consuming.

Tips & Tricks:

  • Feel free to make the oats the night before and keep in the fridge overnight to save yourself some time in the morning.
  • Recipe uses dairy milk, but feel free to use a milk alternative or water. Note this will affect nutrition information (e.g. lower protein, carbohydrate, calcium, potassium amounts).
