Apple Pie Oatmeal
Recipe makes 1 serving.

1/2 cup instant oats
1 small apple
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon (more is okay!)
1 cup water
- Optional : 1 tsp honey or maple syrup
Bring 1 cup of water to boil. Once boiling (bubbling), add oats, let it come back to a boil.
Add in 1/2 of the apple pieces to sauce pan with oats. Let boil for a couple min and then lower heat to simmer.
Keep watch over oats on simmer and stir frequently. Add water if necessary.
Pour oats into small bowl, add remaining apple pieces and mix in honey if using. Top with cinnamon.
Tips & Tricks:
- Although we prefer stovetop, this recipe can absolutely be made in the microwave. You will need to microwave on high for 1-2 minutes stirring after the first minutes, then after 30 seconds.
- You can also opt for nonfat (skim), low fat (1-2%), or alternative milk instead of water. This will add more protein, calcium, and vitamin D.
